Resident Gardener Program

TTK Services commenced a new project for landscape maintenance at Holland -Bukit Panjang Town Council in April 2015. At the same time, an initiative of having residents as gardeners was envisioned by the Chairman of Holland-Bukit Panjang Town Council, Dr Teo Ho Pin.

TTK Services took part in the initiative and worked closely with WDA and NParks to encourage residents in the estate to be a

full time or part time gardener within their estate. Many residents were farmers in the past, and most of them are still active in the community garden near their house.

The benefits for the scheme is very clear. As resident gardeners, there will be a sense of belonging and purpose to enhancing the landscape within their own housing estate. As nature lovers, gardening is their hobby anyway. By joining this scheme, they will also be paid for doing what they like. For us as employer, we will be engaging the help of motivated gardeners for the upkeep of the landscape. It is a win-win situation.

Through the program, we managed to recruit more than 15 residents into the scheme. The group of resident gardeners had also proved to be very diligent and motivated.
